The mission of open3Dproject.org
Bring people together to accomplish art projects and bolster the community.
We at open3Dproject.org believe that there are many artists and enthusiasts out there that would be willing to work with others to make great things. Giving them a way to find each other and work together is the key.
Community
Countless successful open source software projects have shown us that when people come together can produce truly wonderful things. We believe that members of the community are generally unselfish and willing to work with no promise of great momentary gain. Providing a venue for 3D artists to display their skills to one another, and the world, is where open3Dproject.org comes in.
Motivation
Although contribution probably won't make an individual rich or immediately land them a job at their favorite studio, it does afford the opportunity to bolster their resume, learn from others, and experience the reward of a job well done. A contributor can take on project tasks based on their skill level and availability. One can contribute to projects at a pace they feel comfortable with; taking on as much (or as little) work as they believe they can provide for the team. During the course of a project, individuals have an opportunity to network with their peers, learn, teach, and build their portfolios. Obviously, the more a people put in the more they get out.
How will open3Dproject.org help?
First, we would like to build a place where 3D enthusiasts and artists go to look for projects. Instead of searching "Help Wanted" threads in various forums, most of which being old and dead, they come here for the latest news on community 3D projects. If they find an open project of particular interest that they would like to contribute to, they join (or apply to join) it. From there, project members will have access to the project where they can interact with the team and contribute.
